We are a registered Charity no. 1204015 run entirely by volunteers. We serve the patients of The Hillingdon Hospital, care home residents and the residents of the London Borough of Hillingdon, which in case you were wondering is close to Heathrow Airport, London, England.
We are based at Hillingdon Hospital and our aim is to help relieve sickness, poor health and old age amongst people living in Hillingdon and the surrounding areas. We do this by providing a radio service for hospitals, residential care homes and patients receiving community care. We broadcast music requests and dedications, national and local news and play the best selection of music for all ages, 24 hours a day.
Our service is available inside the hospital FREE of charge, using the Bedside Entertainment System on Radio Channel 45, on television screens around the hospital and online.
Check out THIS page for more ways to listen to us.
Radio Hillingdon is not funded by the NHS and all of our day to day running costs are met with funds raised by our volunteers. If you would like to help us please make sure you visit our Fund-raising page or use our web shop further down this page.
Thank you for visiting us and we hope you enjoy exploring our website.
Stephen Hickman, Chairman - Radio HillingdonRadio Hillingdon is pleased to announce that we have been selected as one of two charities, that the Worshipful Mayor of Hillingdon Cllr Coleen Sullivan, will be raising funds for during her year in office. The other is Royal Brompton & Harefield Arts Charity.
We look forward to working closely with the Mayor to try and help her raise as much money for both charities as possible.
We are extremely grateful to the Mayor and her team for choosing us.
If like us you listened to the Searchers' music back in the 70s, when Radio Hillingdon started, you will love listening to the interview Steve Hickman recently had with one of their members, bass guitarist Frank Allen.
Frank Allen was born on December 14, 1943 in Harlington, Middlesex. He joined Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers as rhythm guitarist in 1961 after a one off radio appearance with them.
When Tony Jackson left the Searchers in August 1964, Frank was asked to join the group. While with them he contributed to hits like “When You Walk in the Room,” where he sang a dual lead line with Mike Pender. He remained with the band until their final gig in March 2019, marking the end of an era for the group.
He wrote a book of touring recollections called "Travelling Man" in 1999 and his definitive and detailed biography of the Searchers entitled "The Searchers And Me - A History of the Legendary Sixties Hitmakers" was published in April 2009.
If you missed Steve Hickman's "In Conversation with Frank Allen" when it was first broadcast, you can listen to it below, but due to licencing, without the music that was in the original broadcast.
We are very grateful for Frank spending time with us and would like to say thank you.
